Tone Your Body Fitness Program
This program is designed to improve overall cardio-vascular fitness, tone up muscle and burn up surplus fat.  We’ll work with you to stretch and strengthen your way to a healthier, happier you.

BALLROOM DANCE LESSONS-Beginner
If you want to learn to dance for a wedding, an important party or just for fun, this is the class for you. Ray & Carol Ciotto have taught the fundamentals of dance for many years. You will learn the basics of the classic dances of our time such as the Waltz, Swing, Foxtrot, Rhumba, Cha Cha, Tango, Merengue and more.

YMCA PERSONAL TRAINING: Fit for you.

At the Y, we know that one size doesn’t fit all when it comes to health & wellness.  Each one of our members is unique, with individual health concerns and fitness goals.  YMCA Personal Training offers training programs for men and women of all fitness levels from novice to athlete.  When you sign up for YMCA Personal Training you get the personal attention, motivation and expertise you need to achieve your health and fitness goals.

Personal trainers can motivate you to reach your exercise goals.  Through program design, coaching and learning about your individual lifestyle, your YMCA Personal Trainer will teach you about the latest exercise techniques and wellness insights.  Whether you want to lose weight, increase your energy level, reduce stress, improve flexibility, or develop more strength, you can achieve your goals with a YMCA Personal Trainer!

All YMCA Personal Trainers are nationally certified to ensure they have the knowledge and expertise to develop a wellness program to best address your specific needs and interests.  YMCA trainers are also hired for their passion and commitment to upholding the Y's mission to help you reach your fullest potential.

Train Together (2-on-1): Pair up with a friend or loved one and develop a customized plan together with the help of your YMCA Personal Trainer.

Group Training: A cost-effective personal training option that lets you work with a certified personal trainer as part of a group of three to six training partners with similar fitness goals.  A great way to get connected and stay motivated!

Equipment Orientation
For safety and workout effectiveness it is recommended that all new members go through a 20 minute Wellness Center equipment orientation.  This orientation includes instruction on the cardiovascular equipment, on the resistance machines and/or free weights.  Please contact the Member Services Desk at 842-2130 for an appointment.

Pickleball
Pickleball is a fun game played on a badminton court with a lower net and a ball similar to a whiffle ball that you hit with wooden paddles. It is easy for beginners to learn, but can develop into a quick, fast-paced, competitive game for experienced players.

WHEN: Mondays, 9:30am-11:30am; Thursdays, 1:00pm-3:00pm

LIL' GIGGLES PLAYGROUP

Do your children like playing with their friends? As a parent, do you need a fun, safe place where
your children can burn some energy? Bring your little ones to the Amsterdam Family YMCA for
our Lil’ Giggles Playgroup where creativity, energy and development are encouraged through
informal active play in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

Lil’ Giggles Playgroup is a great place for little ones to make friends and develop new skills
through active play which helps develop gross motor skills, strong muscles, and healthy hearts.
Lil’ Giggles Playgroup also helps parents and caregivers make friends and share ideas and
experiences.

We will provide the space and some equipment. Parents/caregivers provide the supervision
(child’s parent or caregiver must be present).

WHO: Newborn to 4 years

WHEN: Tuesday & Thursday from 9:00am—10:00am

COST:
Amsterdam Family YMCA Members: FREE
General Public: $3.00 per playgroup; $2.00 per playgroup 2nd child.

The SilverSneakers® Fitness Program is an older adult fitness program that addresses the needs of the Medicare-eligible population. SilverSneakers® members receive a free basic fitness center membership in addition to having a specially-designed exercise class.

SilverSneakers® classes focus on cardiovascular health, muscle strength, balance, coordination and conditioning. These classes are safe and fun. They do not offer floor exercises as part of the curriculum.

SilverSneakers® I
Muscular Strength & Range of Movement is a trademarked group exercise class designed for older adults. Exercises include work for all major and minor muscle groups addressing strength, flexibility, muscular endurance, balance, coordination, agility, speed and power.

The class format includes a warm-up and rhythmic range of movement stretch, work with resistance tools, cool down, final stretch and relaxation segment. It is an equipment-based, multi-level, total body conditioning class in which students use hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, a SilverSneakers playball and a chair for standing and/or seated support.

T-BALL

The YMCA Youth T-Ball program exits for the youth of our community, providing them with the opportunity to learn the skill and fundamental of baseball from a stationary Tee. The primary objective of the YMCA is to develop people, not professional athlete . Volunteer coaches will focus on throwing, catching, hitting and running the base in an atmosphere that promotes team work and sportsmanship.

WHO: 3 - 5 year old boys & girls
WHEN: Wednesday , May 19 - June 23, 2010
Two sessions: 5:15pm -6:00pm or 6:15pm -7:00pm

TO REGISTER: Stop by the facility. All applicants must complete a registration form and pay fee prior to start of program.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE: May 7th.

YMCA MILITARY OUTREACH INITIATIVE

The Armed Services YMCA and the Department of Defense has developed a program that offers memberships to eligible military families and personnel who may not have access to a nearby military facility. Eligible military families and personnel include.

    • * Family members of Deployed National Guard Reservists.
    • * Active Duty families who live in one of the selected Joint Bases created by the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) process.

    • * Active Duty Independent Duty personnel and their families as approved by their Military Services Headquarters.

    • * Relocated spouses and family members of deployed Active Duty personnel.

Individuals and families who meet the eligibility guidelines and wish to join the YMCA through this program should follow these steps.

1. Contact Military Onesource.com or call 800-342-9647 to confirm eligibility and receive an eligibility form.

2. Fill out and bring your eligibility form, Military ID and other required documentation such as your deployment orders or Military Services Headquarters approval letter to the YMCA for verification.

SUMMER DAY CAMP
Join us for another fun-filled summer at the YMCA Summer Day Camp --where kids get a summer of self-discovery, adventure, fun and learning that will last a lifetime.

Activies
Children enjoy activities such as field trips, games, nature activities, arts & crafts, sports and water fun.

Yoga

Yoga provides a gentle, natural means of awakening, rejuvenating and invigorating your whole body.  Yoga helps alleviate stress, anxiety and fatigue, stimulates weight loss and control, lowers blood pressure, and improves flexibility and balance.

Our certified Yoga instructor, Susan Howard, will guide you through a series of movements, breath work and relaxation techniques designed to properly align your body and mind, leaving you feeling revitalized.

Zumba

A very exciting class full of latin and exotic flavors. It incorporates hip-hop, cha-cha, merengue, salsa and mambo moves to an infectious latin beat. (easy to follow steps)

Are you ready to Zumba? This workout is so much fun you don't realize that you are even exercising. Most participants find themselves hooked after one class.
